I was able to talk to local Defiance sports fan Sharon Fitzenrider. I talked to her about her love for Defiance sports, the recent basketball season, and the current baseball season.
Noah: How long have you been following Defiance sports?
Mrs. Fitzenrider: I have been following Defiance sports since 1967. I started following 52 years ago when I married my husband.
Noah: What got you interested in Defiance sports?
Mrs. Fitzenrider: My husband graduated from Defiance and we continued to go to show our support for the school. It has continued ever since.
Noah: Did your kids go to Defiance High School?
Mrs. Fitzenrider: Both of my daughters attended and graduated from Defiance. One graduated 36 years ago, and the other 33 years ago.
Noah: Why have you continued to follow Defiance sports even though your children have graduated?
Mrs. Fitzenrider: I personally enjoy sports. My husband got me into both Defiance and Ohio State sports; and they have become a large part of my life.
Noah: How many sporting events do you attend per year?
Mrs. Fitzenrider: I try to attend most games but it is hard to get to some. I try to get to as many as I can. As I have gotten older, it is harder for me to go. Also, my husband has Alzheimer's and cannot attend with me anymore.
Noah: Do you follow both boy's and girl's sports or just one and not the other?
Mrs. Fitzenrider: I follow the boy's sports more than the girls. We have just followed boy's sports from the onset and have never really gotten into girl's sports.
Noah: What are your thoughts on the recent basketball season?
Mrs. Fitzenrider: I am very proud of what they accomplished this season. It was very exciting. It is ashame that they did not make it to state.
Noah: What are your thoughts on Defiance's current baseball season?
Mrs. Fitzenrider: The varsity team is doing very well. They are on a losing streak now, but they will turn it around and get back on track.
Noah: Do you believe that Defiance is good enough to make state in baseball this season? If yes, why do you believe so?
Mrs. Fitzenrider: Yes, I do believe they are good enough to make state in baseball this season. They currently have a 10-4 record and have been soundly defeating their opponents.
Noah: What do you think of some of the new sports facilities at Defiance?
Mrs. Fitzenrider: They are state-of-the-art facilities. They look so much better than our older facilities. Hopefully they can use them for years to come.
I thank Mrs. Fitzenrider for her time and wish her well in the future.
