Defiance grad is ready to make MLB debut

Over a decade ago, Defiance grad Luke Hagerty had complications arise and was at the end of his rope in regards to his baseball career. Looking back at 2002, the Ball State University all-star was drafted in the 2002 MLB June Amateur Draft by the Cubs. He posted amazing stats at Single-A Boise that summer and made himself known. Then, in 2003, he left the Cubs' spring training with a torn ligament in his left elbow, which required Tommy John surgery. After his recovery, he struggled to throw strikes on many occasions. Hagerty ended up coaching pitching and helping with strength and conditioning and ultimately, helping himself become a better pitcher. With this, he is getting his chance to get back into baseball and coach pitching.
